HAPPY NEW YEARS!!

Just returned from dinner at Mulate's. Wonderful food and great music. Check it out here......http://www.mulates.com/ Addie is drinking a Tornado, just as strong as a Hurricane. She was pretty slow on the sip!

They have a Cajun band and everyone dances. The photo is of a very nice elderly man who was going around asking single ladies to dance with him. He came by a few times and we had to take a photo of him. He was wearing many different buttons and one of them was "I am a recycled teenager" I believe it. He was all over the dance floor.

We are now in the rooms resting up for the big night. You can feel the excitement in the Quarter. They are dropping the Fleur de Leis at midnight and there will be thousands of people including Sophie, Addie and me!

More later, I hope everyone had a safe and fun celebration!

email updates

For some odd reason, my laptop is not allowing me to send any emails! I hate traveling with my laptop sometimes!

Anyway, Antoine's is the second oldest restaurant in the United States. It is the oldest one that is still family owned. The food was so very good. I had the bisque, trout almandine and puffy potatoes that they are famous for.

Here is a link if you are interested in learning more. http://www.antoines.com/index.html

While it is not my most favorite place to eat in New Orleans, it certainly topped the list for the most expensive!

The Big Easy

Addie just can't believe that she is FINALLY at Cafe Monde!
Now tonight is hurricane night!

Addie and Sophie pushing mom around Burbon Street!
Sophie was mom's personal drink carrier.

Sophie enjoying Baked Alaska at Antoine's. The food was wonderful and we even got a good night and a wave from James Carvile! Our only brush with fame last night.
Addie is on a mission to find Angie and Brad. We were calling for them last night, but alas, they did not come out and say hello back! Bummer! I was able to get us in the courtyard at Pat O Brians without waiting in the very very long line, but the girls could not get in. No one under 21. I was really bummed about that, great seats too! Darned teenagers! You would have figured that they knew that we were coming to New Orleans and had the fake IDs ready!
Today is shopping day and rest for the big midnight bash!

And Santa Said....

http://just-a-scrappin.blogspot.com/2008/12/and-santa-said.html

I stumbled across this poem about scrappers and Christmas. You really have to see this. I wish that I could take credit for it.

Guess who?

Found another photo!

Dum de dum

Ok, I am here at work on a conference call and just a little bit bored. December 19th is my last day here and I am becoming a short timer quickly. I am handing off my projects to co-workers and running out of things to keep my day occupied.
My back is much better and the only health problem I have now is my weight! Damned my good cooking! HA HA.

So the really embarassing photo is of Addie's friend Sophie who came from Boston to spend Thanksgiving with us at Port A. The reason that we are looking sooooo gooberish is because I told her that the reason that we got the brussel srpouts in the bags were 2 fold. First for the fresh veggies and second the bag served as the hairnet. You know you have to wear a hairnet when working around food!

This was a great year for T-giving in Port A. The weather was nice, Les got to fish, we all walked the beach and the kids even went in the pool! One of the best things about the holiday was not only the family and company, but the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS BEAT THE HELL OUT OF texas a&m! Hook 'em Horns! Now, let's chat about nationals.......
